DOJ Charges Hundreds More for COVID-19 Emergency Fund Theft

Over 3,000 have been accused of defrauding the government.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) recently charged over 300 people with the theft of more than $830 million from federal COVID-19 emergency funds.

These charges are the result of more than three months of investigations by the Justice Department into missing federal funds. More than 60 of the defendants charged in this case alleged connections to organized crime as their main motivation for stealing pandemic emergency aid. At this point, the department has charged a total of nearly 3,200 defendants for defrauding the government of COVID-19 aid.

“This latest action, involving over 300 defendants and over $830 million in alleged COVID-19 fraud, should send a clear message: the COVID-19 public health emergency may have ended, but the Justice Department’s work to identify and prosecute those who stole pandemic relief funds is far from over,” Attorney General Merrick Garland stated.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Attorney General Merrick Garland to seek the Lord’s wisdom as he heads the department.
  • For DOJ officials and attorneys as they seek to recover federal funds that were stolen.
